Our take

AirEx is a climate tech manufacturing company on a mission to tackle fuel poverty and climate change. Its products address and remedy the fact that 36% of CO2 emissions across Europe come from heating buildings, many of which are inefficient in their energy consumption and retention. Of this heat loss, research has shown that 15% is due to air bricks - ventilation holes aiding natural airflow.

AirEx’s main products address these issues through smart ventilation retrofits. Tackling the conflicting needs of ventilation and energy efficiency, AirEx's floorvent product uses smart technology like sensors and algorithmic programmes to regulate the airflow of a property, thus improving both ventilation and efficiency.

The company’s pilot scheme for social housing retrofits has proved successful and led to 8,000 installations for its smart air brick solution. AirEx enjoyed £1.5 million in Series A funding in 2024, which will be used to scale its presence both in the UK and further afield.
