Our take

Agriculture covers roughly half of Kenya’s territory, and 60% of Africa’s population are smallholder farmers. Many of these farmers face a plethora of challenges like difficulty to access financing and insurance which results in low productivity.

Apollo Agriculture is an Agtech company that wants to support these small-scale farmers to help maximise their profits. Through agronomic machine learning, remote sensing and mobile phones Apollo Agriculture supports farmers in finding financing, quality farm product and advice.

Since founding in 2015 the company has acquired an impressive level of funding which speaks to the success of the service but also the need for the service. With its 2024 round of funding, the company is scaling its operations and aiming to serve 400,000 additional farmers.
