Our take

Originally the software arm of news company Axios, Axios HQ was split into a separate businesses when Axios was bought out by Cox Enterprises in 2022. Now it runs as an independent organization, headed up by one of the original Axios founders.

The mission is to market the Axios style - ‘Smart Brevity’ - to organizations looking to be more engaging with internal communications; then, it helps them achieve it. The tool offers suggested writing templates, and uses ML to make style and phrasing suggestions. Users can also then track engagement and access analytics about the piece once it’s in colleagues’ inboxes.

Its 200+ customers already include a collection of blue-chips like Delta Airlines and AT&T, and various state school systems and local governments. Axios HQ is seeing remarkable renewal rates among them too, and many are availing themselves of the additional services growing up around the software product - like ‘Smart Brevity’ style training courses. Given the rapid success of the Axios HQ product ecosystem before going independent, this greater freedom could well see it take off in a big way.
