To accelerate the development of more productive, sustainable, nutritious & climate-resilient food sources.
Gene editing has the potential to change agriculture forever, enabling the creation of more resilient crops that can survive the evolving conditions brought about by climate change. Biographica is a company employing machine learning to discover promising targets for crop gene editing, with the potential to accelerate the development of more robust key crops.
Finding such targets has proved to be a major bottleneck for existing crop editing programs, as their ability to introduce edits has grown beyond their understanding of what is worth editing. Biographica directly addresses this, leveraging the same techniques that have supported innovation in drug discovery to identify targets with maximal efficacy but minimal undesired effects.
With a global food crisis looming, Biographica's approach may prove vital to securing food for all in the future. This fact is reflected in the company's early fundraising which it will invest in the expansion of its platform, development of additional crop traits and the strengthening of partnerships across the seed industry.
