Our take

Capital markets, and particularly the issuance of securities, is an area that has seen little innovation in the last 50 years, which is unusual when you consider how large the capital markets space is, and how many fees are generated from work in that area.

Bond Origination Technologies (Bots) was founded by two former debt capital markets bankers to address the pain points of issuing bonds. The idea is to remove the manual elements of the work, leaving bankers to focus on the higher leverage (and more enjoyable) parts of the job.

Stephan and Oliver's deep experience in the space gives them a strong chance of disrupting the space, where having a strong network and credibility is very important (convincing people to try out a new product for billion-pound bond issuances won't be easy!).
