Our take

Although the possibilities of computer vision seem limitless, the resources available for training AIs are not. Real-world data is often expensive and time-consuming to gather, and the market for talent who can utilize this data is fiercely competitive. Enter CVEDIA, a computer vision firm that creates AIs using synthetic data, allowing clients to side-step this expensive and difficult stage.

Computer vision is a large sector and numerous startups are vying for a piece of the £11 billion market. CVEDIA stands out with the cost and time savings from its "zero data" approach, which cuts costs and accounts for improbable situations that might not be picked up in normal data collection. This approach has proven successful, and it counts major companies such as Ford, Airbus and Siemens among its clients.

Thermal imaging company FLIR Systems has made a significant investment in CVEDIA, which has enabled it to expand its business. It is continuing to build partnerships with companies such as Lanner and Lumeo which will enhance its platform, and are looking to bring on new talent to further develop the product.
