Facial recognition AI is an incredibly powerful tool, using advanced technology to help identify individuals. This has a host of potential applications ranging from airport security to exam proctoring, and the tech has really taken off in recent years. So, its no wonder, then, that the global market for facial recognition software was valued at over $3.8B in 2020, and is expected to reach over double that by 2028.
Clearview AI is a major player in this sector. Founded in 2017, the US company has created the largest known database of over 10B facial images, and was even named one of the Times 100 Most Influential Companies. At present, its consumer base is built around law enforcement agencies who use its software to identify criminals.
Of course, facial recognition software is not without its controversies, and Clearview has faced a series of battles over privacy, personal data and freedom in the past. That being said, the company is still successfully pushing forwards. Following major funding, Clearview is now focused on growth, both of its team and product.
