Our take
Climax Studios is one of the UK's longest-running game developer, with roots going back to 1988. Founded in Portsmouth, the studio has been part of the games industry since before the original PlayStation era and has built a reputation for consistency and creativity. Despite how much the industry has changed, Climax has stayed relevant by evolving with new technology while keeping a strong focus on collaboration and game development expertise.
Today Climax works closely with some of the biggest names in gaming to help build major titles. It offers everything from full game development to co-development, art, and technical support, often working behind the scenes on blockbuster releases. Over the years, it has contributed to well-known games like Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, Assassin's Creed Chronicles, and Mafia: Definitive Edition. By partnering with companies like Microsoft, Sony, and Ubisoft, Climax has become a trusted name for delivering high-quality work across both indie and AAA projects.
In 2021, Climax was acquired by Keywords Studios, marking a new chapter for the company. The move brought Climax into a global network of game development services, giving it more scale, resources, and access to major industry partners. Since then, it has continued to grow, including expanding into new locations like Edinburgh and working on increasingly high-profile projects.
