To make better food possible for more people.
Crisp sources and delivers seasonal food products from hundreds of small-batch, local producers via its app-only supermarket. By operating online and delivering within 24 hours, the company allows consumers to purchase higher quality food items from local producers who may be out of reach or inconvenient to buy from.
Since its founding in 2018 by serial entrepreneurs Tom Peeters (Westwing Home & Living), Eric Klaassen (BLOOM), and Michiel Roodenburg (formerly of leading supermarket chain Albert Heijn), Crisp has become one of the fastest growing supermarkets in The Netherlands, where the food industry is worth over €40 billion.
Crisp has received an impressive amount of funding, most recently in a Series C round. It has used its capital to expand across the Netherlands and into Belgium, where sales have been rapidly increasing since 2022. It is further powering its growth with strategic acquisitions such as of Eetfabriek, a supplier of ready meals, which has greatly expanded Crisp's product line in a popular category. In the longer term it will aim to increase non-food sales and grow into new territories.
