To bring near cloud-level performance to all forms of devices at the edge, delivering orders of magnitude better energy efficiency and processing speed, while drastically reducing operating costs.
Edge AI refers to the deployment of AI apps near the edge of the network, close to the user rather than at a central computing facility or data center. Such applications present numerous opportunities, with most businesses having some function that could benefit from edge AI, but are associated with low power efficiency and poor scalability.
Edgecortix steps in to combat this problem, with its collection of software and hardware for edge AI. Its products include an IP core named DNA, and an energy-efficient co-processor called SAKURA-I, with its software framework MERA acting as a companion to these hardware offerings. Together, the company's products support "near cloud-level" AI performance for edge applications, making it a stand-out in the space.
As more businesses seek to improve their processes through edge AI, Edgecortix's pool of potential clientele should continue to rise. Its 2023 fundraise, which saw it secure $20 million in additional funding, will support the development and release of new SAKURA hardware products, further sales and marketing efforts, and the hiring of key technology talent.
