Our take
Starting a company has never been easier to imagine, or harder to get right. The world is full of bright ideas, but turning one into a business takes the right people, money and support, often before there is even a product to sell. So that's where Entrepreneur First sees an opportunity, and backs people before they even have a company, rather than waiting for the next big thing to come along.
Entrepreur First (EF) brings talented people together and helps them build businesses from scratch. Through its programmes, it helps aspiring founders find co-founder, develop ideas and secure the early funding and practical support they need to get going. Think of it as a launchpad for entrepreneurs, giving promising people the chance to turn a hunch into something real.
EF's portfolio of companies are now worth more than $16B, and its latest $200M fundraising will help it reach even more founders and back more ambitious ideas. With investors including Stripe co-founders John and Patrick Collison and former Google CEO Eric Schmidt, the message is clear, there is value in backing people before the rest of the world catches on. So now EF's next challenge will be turning that early promise into the next generation of standout companies.
