Our take
Fantasy sport has risen over recent years to become one of the fastest growing online gaming sectors, and with the launch of new mobile apps from DraftKings and MPL is expected to continue going from strength to strength. Possibly the highest growth gaming sector, however, is Web3 games - and game development studio Fast Break Labs is yoking the two together in what may prove to be a highly popular combination.
Fast Break Labs’ first foray into the sector comes in the form of VBA Game, a basketball manager simulation where users assemble teams of fictional athletes in the form of digital collectibles. These collectibles can then feature in user-crafted storylines and virtual games, earning their managers monetizable points.
Whilst a modest operation for now, Fast Break Labs has won some high profile investors including Pantera Capital, Solana Ventures, and owners of the Brooklyn Nets and Sacramento Kings NBA teams. This speaks to a strong growth potential - gaming, and in particular fantasy sports, is a natural first touchpoint for new blockchain users. This means market competition will be fierce, but with its deliberately familiar UX and strong backing, Fast Break Labs has given itself a strong headstart.
