To making STEM less intimidating, more diverse and inclusive.
STEM education is at an all time high, with more and more money and effort been spent to ensure access to these key disciplines. Looking to help empower the next generation with knowledge, skills and excitement for this space is First UK, a part of FIRST Tech Challenge. It is a robotics programme also named the "Robotics Olympics" that supports skill development and runs the largest global robotics competition.
Aimed at younger individuals (aged 12-18), First is a non-profit organisation giving access to some of the most relevant tech mentors in the industry. Teams work to build a robot to compete, and an impressive 71% of young people who partake are more interested in pursuing STEM after taking part. Considering the great prospect of STEM careers, First is no doubt an exciting programme that has the potential to expand its reach in the coming years.
