Our take
Flexport is the first international freight forwarder and customs brokerage built around an online dashboard. They were the first large disrupter in an industry that historically hasn't seen much technological innovation. Its services include technological-driven insights and flexible communication for shipping, including its own Slack-style SaaS service.
The company has grown dramatically since its inception and has worked with thousands of clients in over 100 countries. After receiving a significant amount of funding, Flexport operated with a focus on further developing the logistics ecosystem by expanding into new geographies, as well as partnering with other companies in the space.
Due to macroeconomic conditions, Flexport has experienced a recent decline in interest in its shipping services, which has forced it to make cuts to its workforce across this sector of the business. The company has since begun a pivot towards offering more supply-chain services, which smartly brings them into a market that is on the rise despite economic disruption.
