Our take
Sharing high quality video is extremely difficult due to the sheer size of the files and bandwidth required to upload media to the cloud. The need for a solution to this problem was highlighted when millions were forced to work out of office, away from physical shared hard drives.
Frame.io hopes to tap into the $140 billion video industry and solve this problem. It offers a cloud collaboration platform with a special focus on video production. Frames technology, known as “Camera to Cloud”, allows video production professionals to instantly share “proxy footage”, which maintains quality without the same bandwidth demands, to the platform.
Since its 2014 start in the industry, the company has partnered up with media giants such as Vice, Netflix, Buzzfeed and National Geographic. With an office in Los Angeles, indicates that it's eyeing up the huge potential of Hollywood to grow the business further.
