Geometry's mission is to build and invest in companies and protocols leveraging deep mathematics, cryptography and engineering to advance the state of Web3.
Geometry invests in early stage Blockchain and Web3 startups, with a particular focus on zero-knowledge privacy technology. The firm is backed by hedge fund billionaire Alan Howard, Head of Research Kobi Gurkan founded blockchain-based fintech EPOK, while fellow co-founder Tom Walpo was previously CEO of Ethereum based layer 2 network Aztec.
Investment in Web3 startups increased from $20 million in 2020 to just under $400 million in 2021. While this shows just how much excitement the space is generating, it’s also an indication of how competitive it’s already become.
One way that Geometry is aiming to find success is by casting its net far and wide, especially into emerging markets. Indeed, its small but growing portfolio includes India-founded company Socket. On top of this, the firm looks to be keeping a close eye on the Asia Pacific region, and Southeast Asia in particular, where there’s a booming web3 ecosystem.
