Company mission

To ensure the responsible development and deployment of AI systems.

Our take

A “grey swan event” refers to an improbable but highly impactful event that has been foreseen but not remedied. Examples include environmental disasters and large-scale cyber attacks, against which governments and organisations should have been better prepared to counter. AI company Gray Swan creates solutions for the responsible deployment and development of AI, ensuring that tech companies are armed with the right skills and tools to counter unexpected yet serious events

Founded by Carnegie Mellon professors, Gray Swan is a company steeped in the ethics and implications of AI and creates tools and services to ensure its responsible deployment. It makes this as simple as possible for companies, too; its foundational AI agent protection requires only two lines of code to be implemented, and thus means no modification of existing infrastructure. This is an especially important aspect of Gray Swan’s offering, as many companies are highly protective of their AI models. The company’s Cygnal software offers a 99.98% attack block rate and is paired with Shade, an AI attack test suite that can be deployed at any stage of an AI agent’s development.

Gray Swan’s software covers all bases, then. However, within the context of a highly competitive cybersecurity market, it’s the reputation of Gray Swan’s co-founders that has elevated it above the competition. It will be interesting to see how its agile and comprehensive toolkit adapts in the rapidly evolving theatre of AI threats and cybersecurity.
