Heal's mission is to deliver great healthcare in the comfort of patients' homes.
Founded in 2014, Heal started life as an app that connected patients to doctors for on-demand, at home visits. While house calls are still at the core of its value, it’s since grown into a healthcare platform with telehealth, remote health monitoring and preventative care solutions.
Heal’s leading co-founders, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Renee Dua and CEO Nick Desai stepped away from the company in 2021. However, the hiring of serial CEO and entrepreneur Scott Vertrees brought about a shift in strategy, and a subsequent period of immense growth.
Vertrees has been behind the company’s new-found exclusive focus on seniors, as well as its more value-based model through its recently launched tech platform – as opposed to its previous reactionary, on-demand approach.
There are a number of health industry companies beginning to focus primarily on senior citizens, including early-stage Medicare back office startup FairStreet, all of whom rightly recognize that the number of Americans aged 65 or older is set to more than double by 2060.
