Our take
Inefficient food supply chain processes are the leading cause of food waste across the board, with the cost of waste being well beyond $150 million in Europe alone, the lack of a solution will only lead to more empty shelves, and high food costs for consumers.
While one solution to the waste problem is utilising local and speciality food supply chains, these smaller growers are often left out of supply chain networks due to a lack of accessibility and a general lack of knowledge when it comes to established standards and technologies. Heir solves this problem by providing an easy-to-use infrastructure that enables seamless communication between merchants and suppliers, empowering local growers to break into the retail market.
Given the increasing number of supply chain disruptions over the last year, the company's decentralised and digital food supply chain is a welcome solution to keeping high-quality products in stores.
