Our take
Hire Space is a leading and fast-growing technology company in the events space. It operates the most popular online marketplace for venue hire, currently listing over 6,000 venues across the UK.
Originally started to help austerity-hit schools and community centres rent out their spaces for extra income, the company has since become a go-to for event booking and has organised events across the world.
Their platform aims to make booking spaces simple, with a website focused on user experience. Their revenue model is simple: venues can list for free, and if a booking is made, Hire Space charges a 10% commission on the entire cost of an event, which also includes the fees for entertainment and catering.
Before the COVID-19 outbreak, the company was undergoing significant growth to increase its share of the £15bn domestic events market. Hire Space has since adapted offering several other tech products (virtual event platform, registration, ticketing).
