Our take
With labour shortages becoming a significant pressure on the $1.6 trillion foodservice industry, restaurants are looking towards automation in order to survive in the current climate.
Hyphen is setting out to help these businesses. Built to put kitchen operations on autopilot, they are an automation company that deploys software and robotics to increase efficiency, reduce mistakes, and cut costs in commercial kitchens.
Previous rounds of funding went towards building out Hyphen’s factory and investing in R&D for new products. Recent capital, led by Tiger Global, is being focused on hiring designers, engineers, and operators to facilitate its goal of scaling to five markets. It's well on its way to doing so with its 2023 partnership with major brand Chipotle.
