IONATE's mission is to transform power systems through deep-tech innovation.
IONATE claims that electrical transformers, which have remained the same for the last century, are no longer fit for purpose as power systems look to shift to more efficient, low emissions electricity.
The company develops digital hardware – a patented “smart hybrid transformer” – which allows for more efficient power flow control across the existing electricity grid, as well as in renewable energy infrastructure such as wind and solar.
With many of the world’s leading economic powers committing to net-zero emissions by 2050, there’s a pressing need for deep-tech enabled solutions on the existing grid, as well as in alternative power systems. IONATE is attempting to make itself a key player in this transition.
The fact that its tech solution is patented could be a huge factor. After winning plaudits at a number of industry awards before even going to market, the London-based company is now eyeing a major scale-up, aided by its 2025 Series A round. IONATE is growing its presence in the grid modernisation market, which is set to reach $21 trillion in value by 2050.
