To make car insurance not only more affordable to millions of people but also to improve road safety dramatically.

Just is a user-based insurance startup looking to democratize access to car insurance. Many auto premiums are set according to discriminatory factors such as age and address, which can inflate a premium so prohibitively high that some drivers opt out of insurance altogether. In fact, cost is most frequently cited as the reason why over 10% of drivers across the US are uninsured.
Just’s model looks set to change this. It offers prepaid, 30 day liability insurance based solely on how well, and how far, a user drives. This should allow it to tap into a market of drivers previously frozen out by other premium calculation methods. Prepaid coverage can be accessed for as little as $30, too, which could prove appealing to intermittent drivers.
While the company is currently only available in Arizona, it has been working to expand its coverage options. With the usage-based insurance market seeing impressive growth, and expected to exceed $80.7B globally by 2028, Just could make real headway if itcan carve out a solid niche.
