Our take
Restaurants are often businesses operating right on the margin of profitability. That means any cost efficiencies that can be gained, should. Its with that impetus that Katalyst has built a Restaurant Operating System platform.
The startup has built out a suite of products aimed at boosting the bottom line of these cash-strapped businesses. The startup delivers diner experience, front of house, staff management and intelligence & reporting products all in one easy to use package.
The next stage for the company will involve a combination of expanding its product capabilities to more kitchen and back of house operations as well as pursuing further customer acquisition in US markets.
Soaring investment in the sector has led to a saturated market for restaurant management software. Katalyst will have to trust its service can face off competition from specialised but established players like OpenTable as well as new all-in-one platforms like MarginEdge.
