Labstep is a research platform for scientists that aims to digitise the lab experiment tracking and sharing process. The platform offers researchers various tools, such as experiment reporting and inventory management, which allows them to reduce the time spent on administrative tasks.
Labstep originally started out as a prototype at the University of Oxford, where founders, Jack and Jan, found that research teams were using outdated systems to share knowledge. The duo's product was quickly adapted across the university as teams used the single, searchable platform to store, access and share research data, allowing them to collaborate with ease.
Since launching the platform, Labstep already counts Future Meat, Cytera and LabGenius amongst their clients, and is used by more than 900 universities around the world, including Oxford, Cambridge, Harvard and MIT. With the backing of Seedcamp and Google for Startups, Labstep is set to use its funding to double its team and add additional features, such as a tool allowing scientists to outsource elements of their research.
