Our take

The world we live in is 3D but most of our digital pictures are in 2D. Looking Glass Factory is a 3D display maker that uses holographic technology to present images in 3D, without the use of Virtual Reality headsets.

The company has created the Looking Glass Portrait, a personal holographic display for the consumer market. The product raised over $2.5 million in crowdfunding on Kickstarter and have released a 3D content generator to go with it (which can convert any 2D image into a 3D hologram).

The Holographic Display Market is expected to grow by almost 30% by 2028. However, it is an industry heavily influenced by micro and macro-economic factors. It is also becoming an increasingly competitive landscape, with Sony releasing its own holographic display, adding further pressure for Looking Glass to innovate and scale up. With investment from Accenture awarded in 2023, Looking Glass is making the right moves for continued success.
