The reality is that most video surveillance software often only becomes effective after a crime is committed, and sometimes this is too late to prevent harm. It’s this flaw that led co-founder Jean-Vicente De Carvalho – whose South African family was an-all-too regular victim of crime – to build Lytehouse’s software.

The company is still in its early days, but has secured funding, and is eyeing up growth in Asia and Africa. Indeed, security issues are one the major roadblocks for international investment and business development in both Southeast Asia and in many parts of the African continent. If Lytehouse’s solution proves effective, and the company is able to market itself well, the next few years could bring promising growth.
