Our take
In the last decade, private equity firms have acquired thousands of doctor's practices. This corporatisation of healthcare raises concerns that physicians are losing autonomy and being forced to deprioritise high-quality care in lieu of perceived efficiency.
Meroka exists to combat this, partnering with physician-owned medical practices to transition ownership to the employees of the practice. The company then supplies cutting-edge technology to support these practices to provide top-tier care whilst managing their operations more easily.
This approach is intended to strengthen employee engagement, improve retention and keep these practices in the hands of their communities. Its an intriguing proposition, and Meroka is supported by a decent amount of Seed funding to bring its vision to life.
