Metronome has developed a billing and data infrastructure platform to do just this, enabling more companies to adopt customer-friendly, charge-per-use billing.
Most software businesses do not already have systems that can charge reliably on a usage basis, so Metronome supplies real-time APIs for usage and billing data. It integrates with existing tech stacks so that clients can change to usage-based billing without switching out existing software, and delivers complex pricing models without the need for custom code.
Metronome has raised considerable funding which has allowed it to accelerate hiring and product development. The company claims that its system can serve all sorts and scales of businesses, and has secured clients including Cockroach Labs, Starburst, and Truework.
