Mistho is on a mission to make payroll more open and accessible.
Our take
The promise of open banking has driven billions in venture funding over the last few years into FinTech’s offering to leverage user’s banking data for all sorts of experiences. However, that promise has largely failed. Mistho, however, is trying to pick up the pieces.
Where other fintechs try to demonstrate credibility to credit providers via easy access to banking data or some derivation of that data, Mistho wants to provide mortgage providers with direct access to applicants’ payroll provider. In this way, authenticity is guaranteed and cheques can be completed in one click.
While Mistho is certainly delivering value to credit providers, it needs to aggregate data from payroll software companies. That may be a difficult task given that these companies do not directly benefit from sharing their data, and so navigating this challenge will be an important aspect of the company's success in the near future.
