Company mission

Their mission is to empower prosperity.

Our take

In recent years, new challenger banks have mainly targeted younger, middle-income users, leaving high-income individuals underserved. Monument solves this problem by offering "mass affluent" customers finance and savings solutions.

Monument is headed up by an experienced board and executive team of Barclays, Goldman Sachs and HSBC alumni, which has lent it considerable weight despite its relative infancy. Monument targets people with assets worth over £250k - a highly lucrative demographic. Having secured its UK banking licence in 2021, Monument is now intent on growing its user base rapidly.

Monument's main challenge will be drawing customers away from banking services that are one step beyond that of traditional retail banks and bridging the gap between them and private banking. This puts Monument up against Barclays Premier and HSBC Premier. However, its innovative digital-first approach and impressive early-stage funding could make it a real contender in the competitive UK banking market.
