Our take
Mothership offers logistics handling and freight services through a central online hub. The service is available nationwide and offers next-day delivery in several key metro areas, including LA, Atlanta, Chicago, and New York. Approved drivers accept work through an Uber-like app, and shippers track their freight in real-time via a live-map view.
Founded by two entrepreneurs with experience working at another successful vehicle logistics company, Skurt, Mothership was created to address the bottleneck that had developed in freight movement. The company built up an early customer base, especially among healthcare providers due to its ability to quickly and reliably facilitate same-day shipping with clear oversight of an order's movements.
Competitors such as Emerge, Cargomatic, and NEXT Trucking offer similar services, but Mothership's sole focus on same-day deliveries helps it stand apart. However, Mothership has experienced some criticism over its rates of pay for drivers, and as Uber Freight and other major competitors begin to move in on same-day logistics, it risks losing drivers to rivals with deeper pockets.
