To make developers and teams more productive in developing cloud-native applications to focus more on innovation.
Okteto is aiming to make Kubernetes as friendly for developers as they are for production and operations teams. While Kubernetes has been fantastic for software production, one common pain point is that developers and operations teams remain too isolated from one another because of the tools they have to use.
Co-founders Ramiro Berrelleza, Chico de Guzman, and Ramon Lamana each faced this issue while working at companies like Microsoft, Atlassian, and Docker. Thus they launched Okteto to essentially allow the development environment to mirror the production environment.
Since emerging from the Y Combinator in 2019, Okteto has secured a few high profile customers in the form of Monday.com, LaunchDarkly, Replicated, and Sonar. It’s also won the VC-backing of Two Sigma Ventures, Haystack, and Root Ventures as it aims to greatly expand the functions of its platform.
