During my involvement in various projects as a developer, my commitment to innovative solutions and high quality code was acknowledged by the wider company, resulting in opportunities to lead subsequent projects.

Within the tech team there are significant opportunities to shape the technologies and processes at play. Our scheduled "Power Up" learning days further empower us to stay on top of the latest trends and delve into the technologies that intrigue us most.

OpenPlay truly stands out in the realm of flexible working. In my time with the company, I've experienced firsthand the empowerment that comes with a results-oriented approach. The ability to work from home and enjoy flexitime not only nurtures a deep sense of trust and autonomy but also serves as a testament to OpenPlay's unwavering commitment to its employees' well-being.

The challenges we face at Openplay are pretty complex and varied, which keeps us busy, but we take our time to get the right solution, and don't sacrifice our work-life balance to overcome them. We're growing quickly, both organisationally and systemically, which means we've needed to really step up our game, and i think we're making great progress to improve how we work, and the quality of the products we create!

We've got some really modern tech and tooling, our systems run in AWS primarily in Kubernetes with other AWS services where it makes sense. We're constantly re-evaluating whether we chose the right tool for the job. All discussions around tech choices are very open, and there's no single-mind controlling it; the entire team gets a say in how we build and run things.

The team is always really flexible around your personal life; I don't think i've ever seen anyone have a holiday rejected! It's a really supportive environment, so you're if ever stuck or want a second opinion it's only a slack message or call away. We have a dedicated day each month to focus on self-improvement where we can do anything we want to help broaden or improve our skillsets.

The work at OpenPlay can be varied and challenging as we try to achieve some pretty ambitious goals, so to see everyone pulling in the same direction is amazing! Nobody is afraid of really putting in a shift throughout the company and it's great to work with people who all have that same work ethic.

Everyone has different home life situations and OpenPlay are very understanding of this. Working hours and days in the office are very flexible which is great as it allows me to balance work with other priorities in my life.

I think this really stems from OpenPlay being a place with very little egos. The approach very much is you've been hired because we believe you are excellent at what you do and so we will give you the space to do that. I've been able to drive change in my area shape the future of what my work looks like.
