Our take
Overstory applies artificial intelligence to high-resolution satellite imagery to provide real-time analytics of natural resources. Their insights on the quantity and quality of natural resources help prevent and fight forest fires, tackle deforestation, and reduce power outages for utility companies, the forestry industry, and NGOs.
The company is backed by top climate tech investors, and has secured clients including Red Eléctrica de España, Rainforest Alliance, and Holy Cross Energy. All this goes to show that its product and business model are considered attractive for the space.
Looking ahead, Overstory plans to use funds obtained to expand and accelerate product development, with a focus on prescriptive over predictive monitoring, which shifts its utility from predicting forest fires to helping combat them as they occur.
