Our take

Oxford Heartbeat is an award-winning startup founded to take the guesswork out of surgery. Its fundamental aim is to give clinicians all the cutting-edge tech needed to make life-saving decisions.

Its software increases the accuracy of keyhole surgery by allowing surgeons in real-time to analyse what's happening in blood vessels during surgery, as well as how devices such as stents interact with artery walls. This approach is helping Oxford Heartbeat to create a world where it is the norm for patients and doctors to be supported by successful outcomes and advanced technologies.

Since founding, Oxford Heartbeat has become an ISO13485 certified medical device company, supported by the Royal Academy of Engineering and other medical investors. Further, recent funding has allowed the company to supercharge development into its tech. With clinical trials running at several UK hospitals, Oxford Heartbeat is furthering its mission of helping make surgery safer, and saving lives.
