Our take
Parlia's believes that debate is the foundation of democracy because only through constructive dialogue can societies understand what is best for them. However, it is difficult to take into consideration all the opinions all the time. Parlia aims to develop its platform to become the go-to place for civic debate,
The platform is essentially an encyclopedia of opinion; Parlia for opinions wants to be what Wikipedia has done for facts. It allows users to engage with each others’ ideas with calm, curiosity and respect. The company does not have a political leaning and it tries to ensure there is as much diversity of opinion as possible.
One of Parlia's biggest challenges will be platforming and managing offensive ideas; flagging misinformation and truly harmful content will be critical to the company's success. Aside from this, its near future plans look to include managing its continuation of its open-platform conversations.
