Our take
The effects of the global pandemic have kickstarted new ways of identity verification as the corporate space sees a large increase of home-based roles in a virtual environment. Existing identity verification providers charge high upfront fees with long implementation periods, and now that employees are distributed on a much wider scale, it is vital that organisations ramp up security efforts to protect digital identities through more modernised platforms.
Passbase responds to this growing need by providing a comprehensive platform of identify checks that manages ID verification, biometrics, and individual consent. Passbase aims to provide a seamless, integrated service that works across Apple, Android, and Windows systems. With privacy at the forefront of the organisation's aims, the platform is user-centred, offering customisation options and different package levels.
Competitors include Veriff, an Estonian, AI-based platform valued at $1.5Bn in 2022, with employees also based in the US and UK. Given that the global lockdowns pre-empted such a boom in the industry, other competitors, including iProov, Ondato, and Persona, form other companies that Passbase has to work against.
