Our take

When GlassFish- an open-source Jakarta EE platform- stopped being commercially supported in 2014, Payara moved in to fill the gap. It has since become a trusted support solution for the Jakarta EE platform with 85,000 users and has asserted itself as an alternative to competitors like Oracle WebLogic Server, TomEE, and JBoss EAP.

With its roots in open source, Payara’s flexibility is defined not only by its compatibility with tool suites but by its payment options too. The company has attracted impressive clients including Rakuten, DPD, and Hermes. It's also become a member of The Eclipse Foundation (a not-for-profit organisation providing an environment for Open Source collaboration and innovation).
