Our take

There are now 10+ million people in the US following a plant-based diet. Demand for plant-based alternatives to animal products is high. When it comes to milk alternatives, several companies such as Danone and Arlo have stepped in with products such as oat milk, soya milk and coconut milk options.

Perfect Day has taken a step further in creating products that replicate the taste and texture of milk, by inventing a milk protein that is not made using animal products. It’s the first company to create such a protein, and implement it into products that actually look, taste and act like dairy products. However, it certainly isn’t the last and so the challenge will be to keep innovating and get its proteins into more products.

With a head start in the animal-free dairy protein business and $300 million in funding, Perfect Day is creating and investing in brands to utilize plant-based proteins as a dairy substitute in a wide range of products. Its ability to commercialize the protein substitute is the critical success factor for the business.
