Company mission

To advance visual AI systems in the interests of people and their freedoms.

Our take

The surveillance world is at a critical juncture. Larger than ever volumes of video and image data are being handled by organisations in both the public and private sectors, with public security the end goal, but they can’t use much of it, due in part to public concerns as well as the justified tightening of data protection laws.

Pimloc is out to help organisations like these increase and maintain security while still protecting human rights. The company offers technology that automatically redacts and anonymises key personal information in video and images by, for example, blurring faces and car number plates.

Though the tech that’s gone into it is impressively complex, Pimloc’s is a refreshingly simple solution. Given the crossroads we’re at with personal data and surveillance, Pimloc is operating in a potentially huge market. And with fresh funding as well as year-on-year growth (of over 120%), the company is ready to expand its presence and really change the way the world thinks about visual privacy.
