Our take

Credit cards often offer bonuses and rewards, but these come at the cost of a certain level of spending. This often results in debt in exchange for rewards that may not actually be useful to the user.

Point Card offers a combination of a consumer banking app and a debit card, aiming to offer the rewards available to credit card users without the potential for debt. Consumers earn points based on purchases, with bonus points earned for food-related purchases and monthly subscriptions. Each point is worth one cent, and can be used to contribute towards future purchases.

Point aims to provide the digital banking integration of services such as Chime, and combine it with the incentives associated with credit cards. No credit check is required, and the startup offers money-back guarantees up to $1,500 for cancelled transactions.
