Our take
Data masking, the process of removing personally identifiable information (PII) from records has been the norm for decades but has been undermined by large breaches over the years. Sarus Technologies is a company that claims to have built a new way to keep consumer and employee data confidential. They use a process called differential privacy, providing data science with actionable, scalable, and above all, secure data for use in a variety of fields.
Founded in 2019 and with three rounds of seed funding alongside a 2023 grant from the European Innovation Council, Sarus is now working with Microsoft Azure, showing how it has found a footing with larger tech and software companies.
