To give the cloud back to creators through a global application platform built for developers and makers. Seaplane IO delivers a planet-wide software platform for running the whole application stack globally, wherever and whenever users need it.

Our take

Software development is becoming more difficult in many ways. While there’s been an explosion of cloud-based tools offering more scope to build applications, this has also created a significant pain point. Developers now spend less time building and more time building or configuring cloud infrastructure than actually creating applications.

In a bid to free developers up to create without worrying about infrastructure, Seaplane IO offers a container-based development platform which allows them to deliver applications anywhere in the world. It automatically uses the optimum public clouds and edge resources tailored to a customers geographical regulatory requirements.

Considering that a number of surveys show that around 60% of developers only get to spent half their work day writing code, a solution like Seaplane IO’s could be of great value. Sequoia Capital, a VC firm with a strong record in early investments, seems to agree, having led the company’s Series A funding.
