Seedcamp's mission is to identify and invest early in world-class founders attacking large, global markets and solving real problems using technology.
Billing itself as “Europe’s seed fund” may seem an audacious claim for the 2007-founded Seedcamp. However, a glance at some of the companies that Seedcamp has backed with early stage funding backs it up.
Wise (formerly TransferWise), Revolut, Hopin, Pleo, and UiPath are amongst the hundreds of companies that have broken out, and in some cases exited, thanks in part to Seedcamp’s backing. Its list of investors is just as impressive, including Sequoia, Index Ventures, and Atomico.
At this stage, Seedcamps main value proposition is not simply its funding capacity, but its experience and crucially, its network around Europe. Indeed, it’s for this reason that the company tends to keep its focus squarely in Europe rather than the US or the thriving Asian market. That being said, Seedcamp has made some selective moves in Africa, where there’s an immense untapped startup ecosystem.
