At SideQuest we love great work, but we love making sure people know about it more! We have a regular town hall meeting in BanterVR where we regularly highlight those who are excelling in their role which for me has led to moving into a team leadership role.

Lots of places claim to be fully remote organisations with flexible working hours but when you dig in they aren't. Sidequest certainly delivers on the flexible working. It is easy to adjust your day depending on workload and commitments and knowing there are team members around the world means there is always someone you can connect with.

Everyone at Sidequest is dedicated giving their best to a product and community they believe in. There is a really strong ethos among the team which can be seen from the top down, where everyone feels seen and heard, at Sidequest I really feel like an important member of the organisation. I have a genuinely diverse group of colleagues with different points of view which are supported and welcomed.

I am part of a team that is truly inclusive and supportive. My manager has created an environment for her team where we feel cared for both as employees and as individuals. She listens, genuinely listens, and cares deeply for the wellbeing of her team. She is always available with a listening ear, guidance and suggestions for growth. Supportive management is replicated organisation wide, and I saw for myself at our annual offsite meetup how valued other team members felt.

SideQuest's standard 4 day (32 hour) week gives precious extra time to decompress at the weekend, or to pursue other interests if wanted. I feel far more productive all day every working day, and I feel that I'm valued for the work that I produce rather than hours spent at a desk.

There's a variety of time-zones and cultures to play with, which provides an interesting challenge when it comes to legislative differences - many 'social' situations also happen in VR rather than on video calls, which creates a unique culture with challenges I haven't seen anywhere else.

The philosophy internally is that the best person for the role isnt always the obvious choice and we make efforts to think about that. Certain things that create unconscious bias are not visible to the team, such as birthdays - its one of many things internally that is innovative and thought through. As we scale, we hope to have a more diverse team to take this out-of-the box thinking even further.

Management really encourages you to take initiative and ownership of your own ideas and projects. This alongside a fully remote work environment and no micromanagement really gives you a sense of autonomy over your work.

The VR space is new and upcoming, so already it feels exciting to be part of something on it's birth into the mainstream. However, seeing the proof of SideQuests impact on our users, developers and the wider industry has been super exciting and proven how innovative our product is!

We're fully remote, have a 4 day work week and tonnes of PTO (sick and holiday leave). Managers have a huge amount of trust in us to perform and manage our time, so you feel comfortable working flexibly and taking time off.
