Our take
Many people like to capture their most memorable life events through a camera, whether this is through a selfie on social media, or something more professional to be hung on a wall. The latter can be difficult without the right connections, and whilst freelance marketplaces for photographers do exist, there is never any guarantee that the freelancer will be a match for your needs.
Smiler provides a photographer marketplace, allowing users to search for on-demand photographers that maintain consistency in high-quality standards, availability, and efficiency. The company provides its marketplace for businesses but also allows freelance photographers to apply to be listed on the marketplace.
Whilst platforms such as UpWork, Fiverr, and even regular job listing sites can lead to freelance photography recruitments, smiler recognises that the risk that users take on such websites can be high. By designing its marketplace with availability, remote work, consistency, and efficiency in mind, the company aims to help photographers achieve a flexible career in photography whilst increasing access to professional photo shoots for consumers.
