To change the music industry for good through technology, creativity, and transparency.
The music industry can be a tricky place for independent artists, and making great music is only half the battle. Artists also need to get their work heart, distributed and licensed, while keeping track of where the money goes. So, Songtradr has positioned itself around this problem, giving artists and rights holders tools to manage, distribute and monetize their music.
Songtradr brings several of these jobs together, from distributing music to major streaming platforms to licensing tracks for film, TV and advertising. It also gives users tools to track earnings and manage their music and rights. More recently, though, Songtradr has been reshaping its offering, moving away from the open marketplace and towards a more curated licensing model, while shifting its focus towards Bandcamp and other parts of its wider business.
Rather than trying to do everything in one place forever, it is streamlining its ecosystem and putting more focus on areas such as curated licensing and Bandcamp's direct connection between artists and fans. Its next chapter may look different from the Songtradr people first knew, but the goal remains clear: helping artists and rights holder get more value for their music.
