Our take
More and more professionals, especially millennials, are seeking to take advantage of international opportunities. However, many are surprised to learn that the analogue process of finding a mid-long term rental property abroad is complicated and expensive.
Spotahome is an international online marketplace which offers verified rental accommodation across over 100 European cities in 28 countries. By prioritising simplicity and negating the need for in-person visits with its ‘Home checkers’, the startup has managed to build a product loved by its customer base.
The startup had a difficult 2020, and by its own admittance almost dissolved as a company, firing almost 80% of staff that year. By focusing more on longer-term rentals, Spotahome has managed to turn that situation around and its loyal customer base has helped it chart a steady course back to profitability. Now, it is consolidating its presence in its 28 successful markets.
