Our take

Coined the Netflix of high school education, Subject.com delivers quality education to anyone who wants it. Offering over 60 core, AP and elective courses, the accredited platform provides affordable teaching to people regardless of their location or socioeconomic status.

Both founders, of Latino descent, were educated in the America public sector and eventually studied at top universities. They recognise that not everyone with their background gained access to this privilege and so are committed to sending the elevator back down. Their efforts have come when it's been most needed. Subject is currently bridging the gap created by disrupted schooling due to the pandemic with its services that empower users.

The company continues to evolve, recently rebranding from HiEmile.com to Subject.com, a domain that welcomes better trust in the service and its ability to deliver quality educational content. Its backers include Kleiner Perkins, which has previously invested in Duolingo and Coursera, marking a confidence in Subject and the potential for it to grow alike these thriving brands.
